12 MONTHS – 12 NEW COLLECTIONS

If you’ve visited karencurtis.com lately you may have seen a few new features and of course a lot of new products. As we keep evolving with the website, our focus is to always update with new collections and styles so starting in June we began to design Selections of Jewelry that incorporate Birthstone Colors.

Prior to each month we will release the new Collection for that month which incorporates not only the birthstone but complimentary colors and faceted shapes that are truly unique.  Expect to see some beautiful new creations that serve as a perfect gift for a loved one!

Also New to the Website is an easy to navigate breakdown to all the jewelry. You can now sort by Style or Collection. So say you know that you want a great pair of chandelier earrings, all you need to do is click “Jewelry” and then the NEW subcategory “Chandelier Earrings“.  Super easy to find exactly what you are looking for… quick and efficiently.  Now If you are looking to find a piece of jewelry that matches a certain color then using the “Collection” Category is probably best. Just simply find a collection that is the closest match and then sort through the selection.  Now you can decide whether you want to match with a necklace, bracelet, earrings or mix it up!

2014 VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS FOR HER

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that jewelry has always been the “go to” gift for Valentine’s Day.  And why not… what woman doesn’t want to receive something beautiful on the day of love.  For the rest of her life every time she looks at, or puts on that particular piece of jewelry she will instantly remember when it was given to her and by whom.  That being said it is also the choice in jewelry that reflects what you think about her.  A colorful, sparkling, and unique piece of jewelry like those found in Karen Curtis’ Collections reflects a personality of fun, beauty, and energy.  Characteristics that are found in the most wonderful people in our lives.

Any collection on KarenCurtis.com will make a terrific Valentines Day gift, but for a more literal present we recommend browsing both the Amore and Roaring 20’s collections.  They both incorporate different shades of red and pink crystal which will are synonymous with Valentine’s Day!  The sparkle of Swarovski crystals and the amazing colorful designs are what Karen Curtis® Jewelry is all about.

While Flowers and Candy rank up there in terms of the most gifted items of Valentines Day, Jewelry is on the top three list for sure.  One thing I can definitely say in comparison of the 3 is that jewelry doesn’t die or get used up after a week and we don’t mark up the price like florists do to the tone of 200% increase before the holiday.  The mark up on flowers seems to be 1 of the most acceptable forms of screwing over the consumer, really when you think about it February 15th must be a florists favorite day of the year.

What we have done in this post is compile a list of some of our favorite designs, at all different price points to take some of the stress out of finding a gift for Valentine’s day!

The recap of the holiday season!

Every year we are so honored to exhibit at the Grand Central Holiday Fair, and this year was not only a successful one but also full of emotion.  It truly is like we have an extended family. Though we might not get to see all of you throughout the rest of the year, catching up and getting to hear about all the happenings in your lives is something that we look forward to and makes us feel as through we mean as much to you as you to us.  We sincerely hope for a prosperous 2014 to everyone who has touched our lives!

From a business stand point, we approached this year with a newly designed booth which highlighted 8 new collections of jewelry (3 more than prior years).  The response from everyone was more exciting than we had imagined, and with more one of a kinds and fresh new designs, many of you received pieces that we feel are some of the best designs in the 13 years that The Karen Curtis Company has been in business.  Please wear them all the time, unless of course getting lots of compliments on your jewelry is something that becomes too much to handle (lol designer humor shining through).

Many people ask how our year is structured and what other events we can be found at?
Well, our next show is Mother’s Day weekend at Crafts on Columbus (located on Columbus ave. next to the museum of natural history).  This is a great outdoor show that we have been a part of for years and look forward to seeing some of you there. This holiday season would not be possible without the most fantastic venue in the world as well as an amazing staff of people making the magic of the holiday fair come to life. Best Holiday Gift Guide For Colorful Jewelry 2013

Hey Everyone!!!

Every year this happens and every year we all say the same thing, “I can’t believe it is already the holidays”.  I say NOT THIS YEAR!  Really, the least I can do to help lighten the stress of holiday shopping is give you some ideas from the collections of work that Aaron and I feel are going to be wonderful gifts this year.  There are countless gift guides you can go through….. online, in the mail, and on television so I will just stick to my specialty and show what will be available at The Karen Curtis Shop this year in Grand Central Terminal.  I don’t want to show you products and pretend to know what you might want to get for someone.  You most likely receive this blog/email because you have an appreciation for our work whether for yourself or as gifts, and it is solely because of you that we are able to bring colorful designs to your life, and we want to thank you all for that!!!

EARRINGS

Let’s start with Earrings!  We went design crazy with earrings this year.  I’ve been toying with some new styles over the past couple of years and come this November there will be more styles and more one of a kinds then ever before.  Switching up earring styles is one of the easiest ways to have fun accessorizing your outfits so you can never have too many earrings…. or jewelry for that matter ; ) !  Here are some photos of new colors and concept pieces for the up-coming seasons.

BRACELETS

Brand new designs of single strand bracelets, charm bracelets, bangle bracelets, and beautiful cuffs!   One of my favorites is the cuff with spikes.  By not setting these very rare crystals in the traditional manner they end up protruding from the bracelet and create a cool edgy texture.

NECKLACES

Necklaces range from single wire wrapped strands to ultra-glamorous layers of crystal.  Once again I focused on creating more one of a kinds and new styles of Swarovski crystal necklaces to add to the selection this year.  I think its more fun for all of us.  I get to create new special pieces and my customers have a huge selection to choose from.  I hope you enjoy the preview.

WINE STOPPERS

Finally I can’t wrap up this gift guide without mentioning our wine stoppers.  Hand Blown by my husband Aaron and I, Colorful like the jewelry but uni-sex!!!  Any wine enthusiast would be thrilled to get this for the holidays. There is a great selection on our website and if you are in the NYC area stop by our location at the Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair to stock up on a gift that is always nice to have on hand through out the year. Think House warming parties, hostess gift for Thanksgiving, and all those holiday parties we end up attending for the next couple months.  Why scramble around last-minute when you can be fully prepared with a few nicely wrapped wine stoppers.

We are so excited to share with you our wedding!

Manhattan Bride Magazine just hit news stands and our wedding is featured!  Check it out!

Weddings are so exciting! Designing my jewelry was so much fun! Photos of my jewelry and tiara coming real soon! Our photographer, Julia Skya of Jang Photography was wonderful … awaiting photos to share.

This has been an exciting month for us so far… we just got to see our article, we have photos coming soon and we even got to view our ceremony on video.

So many details to go into a wedding and so much fun to plan… I loved being our wedding planner!  Will share more detail soon. And if you need any help with your wedding…. let us help make you sparkle.

Jewelry Design part 2

     Great week of designing jewelry.  Karen and I stuck to 1 color combination all week-long, creating earrings, bracelets, and necklaces that all matched in color, but design-wise were slightly different.  I believe its important to have these differences, they make it more interesting when paired together.  Lets be honest, it’s the shine and the sparkle that attracts someone to look at what you are wearing.  And when they do the fascination comes from the colors and shapes that are paired together, Whether it is diamonds and rubies, or like we are using Swarovski crystal, the elegance and the craftsmanship come from thought-out placement of the individual elements.  After the actual colors choice of a piece, this would be the second most important aspect for designing a sophisticated piece of jewelry!  The following image is a brand new charm bracelet that can better explain what I am describing.  It is also a quick sneak peek of our spring 2012 and what’s to come this year from Karen Curtis!!!

     The collection is meant to be dominated by the gold, honey, and amber colors that were selected, so here we brought in large transparent beads to stick out in the design of the bracelet.  It sort of sets the tone for the overall look of the piece.  Next we add in smaller beads to incorporate all of the colors.  Notice the stack of two oval red beads which break up the cone-shaped grey, amber, and olive beads.  Using our stacking method, and the pearl on the opposite side of the bracelet we add texture, different surfaces to each bead give us the opportunity to diversify the pattern.  The entire bracelet is wire-wrapped,  the metal is continuously woven into the next segment of metal.  Wire-wrapping is difficult but is a beautiful way of assembling certain pieces of our collections.

     This collection would look stunning with an any outfit that incorporates tan, grey, or other neutral colors.  This could also be a beautiful and fun addition to summer-time carefree outfit with the dangling Swarovski crystals catching sunlight as you stroll down the beach.  We look forward to showcasing this collection at this years holiday fair in grand central terminal!   Enjoy your week,  stay tuned for another weekly blog!!!!!!!!
